Tuacahn Plaza Stage Pre Shows!

This summer, I'm performing with some amazing talent, Cynthia Klumpp and Nancy Hamblin on the Tuacahn Plaza Stage doing a 1/2 hour of jazz standards from the 30's before the main stage production of Annie. I'll post more later as it all comes together. I am so excited to perform with these two! Check back later for more and I'll try and get some pics up. We'll be changing up the music as we go through the season so we'll always be adding new songs. Cynthia's sultry voice is highlighting songs like: "What'll I Do?" and "My Funny Valentine", and Nancy on the keyboard is dishing up some jazzy favorites like "All of Me" and "Straighten Up and Fly Right", while you can catch me mixing it up with "Miss Celie's Blues" and "I've Got A Crush On You". You can also see Cynthia in Annie and Footloose. So come out and see the shows! Go to: www.tuacahn.com for schedules and ticket info.

Acting Up! Workshop

Today was such a wonderful day! It was the first Acting Up! Workshop, and I enjoyed every minute. The kids that participated were great...so creative...and worked so well together. I will be trying to do the workshop twice a week on Saturdays all through the summer. I hope it will grow into something wonderful and a great place for kids, teens and adults alike to come to and enjoy working on their craft and talents!

Thanks again to all those who participated!

April 24th Concert

Thanks everyone who attended the concert last night at the Tabernacle! It was great to see some faces that I knew. It was a wonderful night, and Jaden Cox has invited me to perform again with them on April 24th at the St. George Tabernacle again. If you weren't able to come last night, then try to make this one. Jaden is wonderful as well as our accompanist, Pal Eckman. My particular favorite was the last number I sang which was "Please Don't Make Me Love You" from Frank Wildhorn's Dracula the Musical. Pal accompanied and Jaden played the violin beautifully. It was very moving for me as a performer and I hope to have the chance to perform it with them again. The concert is at 7 pm and Admission is free. The theme is classical to Broadway, so come and enjoy.

Concert

Friday, April 10th, 7 p.m. at the Historic St. George Tabernacle

Jaden Cox (violin), Pal Eckman (accompanist) and guests:

Heidi Anderson (vocal )
John Garner (tenor)
Jeremy Eckman (piano)

Jaden Cox, the young violin virtuoso, has performed before at the Tabernacle, and in many programs locally. He is a violin student of Bonnie Romkey, and piano student of Gloria Tunbridge, and teaches many violin and piano students of his own. He plays a wide variety of music, from fiddle to Broadway and classical. His versatility makes him a favorite with all types of music lovers. His accompanist, Paralee "Pal" Eckman, has been playing the piano since she was eight years old, and accompanys many different types of soloists and musical groups. She has arranged medleys Jaden plays, music for "The Velvetones", female vocal quartet, and composed piano solos and songs which can be seen at musichousepublications.com on the internet. She and Jaden also have played background music at the local Anasazi Steakhouse, and weddings. They have a wide repertoire of new as well as standard favorites.

They have invited 3 guests to perform with them: Heidi Anderson, John Garner, and Jeremy Eckman.

Heidi Anderson was most recently seen as Madame Thenardier in Les Miserables and The Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music this last summer at Tuacahn. She is known for her powerful voice and vocal versatility. She has performed all over the United States, toured nationally as Carlotta with the Baron/Spencer version of The Phantom of the Opera and can be heard on the original soundtrack recording.

John started singing with the traveling Dixie Concert Company when he was very young. They traveled all around southern Utah and to Las Vegas to perform. He sang at church and school programs all thru Jr. High and High School in St. George. Later while attending Dixie College he sang leads in several school productions such as Brigadoon and The Music Man. He has preformed at Abravanel Hall (with Paralee Eckman) and the dedication of the Encampment Mall in St. George with President Hinckley in attendance. He continues to sing at weddings, funerals and church meetings. He and Pal have recorded a CD entitled, "Reminiscing". John currently is preparing for a mission with his wife Sandra to Martins Cove Historic Site, and will leave shortly after this concert. They currently reside in Hurricane, Utah.

Jeremy Eckman, Pal’s son, is a current student at Dixie College, and is an accomplished pianist. He took lessons from the late Lu Jennings many years, and appeared in many recitals in the Cox Auditorium. He plays classical as well as ragtime, and his powerful style is very enjoyable to listen to. He currently teaches piano lessons here in St. George, and gets amazing results from his students.

Jaden will be going on a mission this summer, and will also be performing April 24th at 7:00 p.m., in the Tabernacle, with several guests, including a string quintet, playing Broadway music Pal arranged. Each concert is unique in its style, and has a fresh new repertoire.

Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Heidi~
